Paulette founded ACARA (Addiction Counselling and Resource Associates) after recognizing that there was a large unmet demand in Vancouver, the Lower Mainland, and throughout British Columbia. ACARA focuses on helping people struggling with compulsive sexual behaviour to find solutions and heal. ACARA also provides supervision for psychotherapists, physicians, and other professionals in the area of sex addiction and helps clients dealing with trauma, grief, loss, and stress.
Paulette is a highly trained psychotherapist who holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Saskatchewan and a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Antioch University in Seattle. She is a member of many regional and international professional organizations, including the Canadian Nurses Association, the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia, BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, and the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH). In addition, Paulette has served as a presenter at conferences and events, such as the World Conference of Family Physicians.
In 2005, Paulette was given the Award of Excellence in Nursing Practice, and in 2006 she received the Friend of Guatemala Award from OPSA in Guatemala City for her work with people with addictions and trauma.
